Visual appearance and location of aids to navigation in Latvian territorial waters, exclusive economic zone and port aquatoriums shall comply with requirements of International Association of Lighthouse Authorities.
Technical requirements and procedure of provision of operation of aids no navigation are established by Regulation of the Cabinet of Ministers No. 451 issued 12 June 2016 “Technical requirements for aids to navigation and procedure of provision of operation”.
Hydrographic Service is responsible for supervision of management and operation of aids to navigation.
Hydrographic Service has developed National Monitoring System for Aids to Navigation (NNLMS), which include data regarding aids to navigation. Aids to navigation are mostly supervised remotely, and inspections of operation can be carried out rarely than those not connected to the monitoring.
NNLMS is available online for persons interested and for authorized users on HD Publications. Navigation publications “List of Aids to Navigation”, “Pilot of Baltic Sea. Latvian Coast” and monthy publication “Notices to Mariners” issued by Hydrographic Service are available on the site.
