Reporting of Handled Dangerous Cargoes

Information that Merchant shall provide to the Maritime Administration

According to the Regulation
A merchant who carries out cargo operations involving dangerous and/or polluting cargo shall, in the first month of the calendar year, submit to the Maritime Administration of Latvia a report on the handling of dangerous and polluting cargoes for the previous calendar year.

A completed form must be sent to the Maritime Administration of Latvia:
– to the expert of the Maritime Safety Department, Juris Skrube (e-mail: juris.skrube@lja.lv)
– a copy to the Maritime Safety Inspectorate (e-mail: kdi@lja.lv)

Information that Port Inspectors must provide to the Maritime Administration

 According to the Regulation

The Port Authority shall appoint an inspector (port inspector) who is familiar with national and international requirements regarding the movement of dangerous and polluting cargo in ports.

 The Port Inspector:
– shall inspect the movement of dangerous and polluting cargo in the territory of the port merchant at least once a year;
– shall submit to the Maritime Administration of Latvia a report on the inspections carried out in the previous year, on the deficiencies discovered and their elimination or suggestions for eliminating deficiencies in ship-shore interaction in the first month of the calendar year.

The report, in the context of the activities carried out in Chapter VI of the Regulations, shall be sent to the Maritime Administration of Latvia:
– to the expert of the Maritime Safety Department Juris Skrube (e-mail: juris.skrube@lja.lv);
– to the Maritime Safety Inspectorate (e-mail: kdi@lja.lv).
