Procedure for the allocation of the Manufacturer Identity Code of the manufacturer of recreational craft
The Manufacturer Identity Code consists of three capital letters of the Latin alphabet in different combinations and is chosen by the manufacturer, provided that it is different for each manufacturer.
In order to obtain the Manufacturer Identity Code, the manufacturer shall, before placing the product on the market, submit to the Maritime Safety Inspectorate of the Maritime Administration of Latvia :
- an application, giving his contact details and the single manufacturer code he wishes to have,
- a duly completed copy of the declaration of conformity or a copy of the draft thereof, a copy of the CE conformity marking provided for (hereinafter referred to as ‘the documents’), and
- a declaration that the manufacturing site is located in the territory of the Republic of Latvia (the specific address of the manufacturing site shall be indicated).
The Inspectorate verifies the compliance of the documents with the requirements of this Regulation within five working days. If the result of the verification is positive, the Inspectorate takes a decision on the assignment of the Manufacturer Identity Code and notify the manufacturer thereof.
The Manufacturer Identity Code allocated shall be entered by the Inspectorate in the electronic internal information exchange database managed by the European Commission (hereinafter ‘the database’), where it shall be accessible to the market surveillance authorities of the European Union and the countries of the European Economic Area.
The manufacturer shall immediately inform the Inspectorate of any changes to the documents or declaration and, if necessary, submit new documents and a declaration to the Inspectorate.
The manufacturer shall resubmit the documents and declaration to the Inspectorate every three years for updating the Manufacturer Identity Code in the database and on the website. If the declaration and documents are not submitted or do not comply with the requirements of this Regulation, the Manufacturer Identity Code allocated to the manufacturer shall be withdrawn by the Inspectorate and deleted from the database and the website.
