Marine aids to navigation in Latvian territorial waters, exclusive economic zone and ports shall comply with requirements of IALA (International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation) and IALA Maritime Buoyage System for Region A.
Technical requirements, procedure of provision of operation of aids no navigation and obligations and rights of the possessors are set by of the Cabinet Regulation No. 451 (June 12, 2016) “Technical requirements for aids to navigation and the procedure for ensuring their operation”.
Maritime Administration of Latvia is responsible for supervision of management and correct operation of marine aids to navigation.
Maritime Administration of Latvia has developed information system for marine aids to navigation as well ensures its operation and improvement. System contains data of marine aids to navigation including monitoring information from those marine aids to navigation that are equipped with relevant equipment.
Nautical publications “List of Aids to Navigation”, “Pilot of Baltic Sea. Latvian Coast” and monthly publication “Notices to Mariners” issued by Maritime Administration of Latvia are available free of charge on the section Publications, however information system for marine aids to navigation is available for authorized users on www.lhd.lv.
