Sea fishing vessels shall be registered in the Ship Register of the Maritime Administration of Latvia.
Sea fishing vessels may undergo a pre-registration survey by the Maritime Safety Inspectorate of the Maritime Administration of Latvia prior to registration in the Ship Register of the Maritime Administration of Latvia.
Sea fishing vessels may be under the technical supervision of the Maritime Safety Inspectorate of the Maritime Administration of Latvia or a classification society.
Sea fishing vessel surveys and relevant certificates shall be issued, extended and cancelled in accordance with Cabinet of Ministers Regulation No 248 of 28 March 2006 “Regulations on Safety of Sea-going Fishing Vessels”.
Operating a vessel without valid Certificates is prohibited.
Additionally sea fishing vessels are required to obtain a Minimum Safe Manning Document and a REGISTRATION CARD FOR 406 MHz EPIRB.
Only equipment complying with Cabinet Regulation No 34 of 17 January 2017 on the “Rules for the Equipment of Vessels” may be installed on board a fishing vessel.
The maximum power of the main engine of a fishing vessel shall be checked on the flywheel in accordance with ISO 3046÷1:2002 when the main engine is replaced or upgraded.
